Bansko along with the adjacent towns of Razlog and Dobrinishte has expanded into a major ski resort. It is situated in the foot of Pirin mountains, 145km from Sofia airport - approximate 3 hours drive.
To get to Bansko we use the recently reconstructed international road E79 from Sofia towards the Greek border point Kulata.
The road passes not far from Rila Monastery and through Blagoevgrad, when it reaches the town of Simitly, it turns left along the undulating between Rila and Pirin Mountains road No19 to towns of Bansko, Razlog and Dobrinishte.
